Head Instructor Teresa Branca Paxton will be teaching all classes and working with all students to achieve their short term and long term goals.
Teresa has been training in Taekwondo for 33 years, holds a 4th Dan Black Belt, has multiple State and National Kyorugi (Sparring) titles, and has represented Australia at Multiple international Competitions both as a player and a coach.
Teresa's family have been involved in Taekwondo for decades also. Her father Renato Branca was the Australian Taekwondo Olympic team Massage Therapist, and her Sisters Bernadette and Jasmine Branca held long running national titles, acheived internationl medals and were on the Australian Olympic Shadow Team, Living and training at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Teresa Studied a Bachelor in Exercise Science at ACU, a Diploma of Recreation (Sports Coaching major) at NMIT, a Cert 4 in Fitness Instruction, and a cert 3 in Children Services (OOSHC), Level 1 Strength and Conditioning, Level 1 Sports Medicine, Level 2 First Aid, CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management.
Renato Branca commenced teaching Teresa in Taekwondo from the young age of 3. Since then Teresa has trained under Grand Master Jung Myung Oh, and Master Jemal Hasan before branching out on her own.
Teresa formed her own club in 2004, and has worked with Australian Sports Commission as a deliverer of the Active After School Communities Program at schools all over Melbourne.
As the head instructor of Branca Taekwondo, she has refined her syllabus taking into consideration the reccomendations of the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Headquarters, and the World Taekwondo Federation, to ensure students experience a fun, progressive, effective and developmentally appropriate program to take them to Black Belt and beyond.
Often other Martial Arts Clubs run a mixed seniors class, and a general junior class on the side, grouping multiple ranks together. At SCTKD, we strive to offer you small class sizes and where possible we will offer a class that caters ONLY to YOUR rank and syllabus. This allows us to focus 100% of our attention on techniques that are not only developmentally appropriate to you and your skill level but will keep you motivated. We believe, too many ranks in one class will leave higher level students bored or lower level students feeling overwhelmed or left behind.
Taekwondo has something for everyone. We set short and long term goals, and will work to achieve them together as a team. SCTKD is keen to offer options that cater to the needs of local families. For example, if there are a group of parents who would like a class where Parents can train with their children for example, we are happy to create a class that will suit.
